Question:

Mufti Sahib if a person says to his wife in Urdu "Soorni" which means female pig without any intention of talaq. Will this effect Nikah or constitute talaq?

 Answer:

Bismillah

Swearing or using foul language like the one you mentioned in the question is a sin and should not be uttered or said to your wife. Good manners and Akhlaaq is a hallmark of a Muslim and foul language is certainly not a practice of the Prophet of Allah ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him).

Saaiduna Anas bin Malik raḍyAllāhu 'anhu (may Allāh be pleased with him) said: “The Prophet of Allah ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) was not one who would abuse (others) or say obscene words, or curse (others)…” (Sahih Bukhari)

The Prophet of Allah ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) said: “The believer is not a slanderer, one who curses a great deal, one who indulges in obscenity or who in engages in foul talk.” (Sunan Tirmizi)

The Prophet of Allah ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) said:

“The inmates of Hell are of five types….” And among them he mentioned “…the miser, the liar and those who are in the habit of abusing people and using obscene and foul language.” (Sahih Muslim)

Regarding your question, swearing or using foul language against ones wife would not break the marriage and nor would a Talaq occur.
