Question:

Asalamualaikum.

Hazrat, I am looking permission, or if it’s lawful to follow two
different Hanafi timetables this Ramadan.

I take the full month off work in this blessed month to ensure, I am
giving myself the best chance to secure my Akirah.

Initially, I will be following the timetable where the sehri time is
approximately between 1-1:30am depending on where you are. The reason
for this is because right after Taraweeh finishes which, will be between
mid-night-12:15am, I can have a small snack in readiness for sehri,
perform Tahajud, perform Fajar with Jamat (mosque), and then go straight
to bed. I’d rather not go to sleep, and then wake back up to do sehri,
Tahajud, and Fajar – too lazy!

However, in the last 10 days, that are the greatest, this means there is
less time for ibadah especially on the night of Laylatul Qadr. So, to
make more time for myself, I then would like to change to another Hanafi
timetable where sehri would be a between 2-3am. I would not go to sleep
after Taraweeh, and get stuck in ibadah. I understand quality is better
than quantity, but I would to accommodate for both. This is the month to
be selfish, right? So, I’d have almost 3 hours instead of 1 hour, and
15 minutes.

Questions:

a)      Is this permissible?

b)      If, I did so anyway, would my fasts, and ibadah still be valid?

Jazak'Allah.

Answer:

Bismillah

It is better to follow one timetable throughout the whole month in which you have confidence.

If you decide to follow a different timetable which has been attested by scholars to be acceptable, then inshallah your fast and ibadah will be valid.
