Question:

As salamu alaykum respected ‘ulama is it true, the sahabi Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn Zubayr (radiyallahu ‘anhu) perform Tawaf in swimming? Forgive me for my ignorance I never heard that, someone sent this to me by WhatsApp.

Answer:

Yes, this is correct. In history, the Kaaba has flooded several times but only a few times to the extent where it has been possible to swim around it. The first was Abdullah ibn Zubayr RA and the most recent occasion of such flooding was in 1941.
