Question

A certain bakery gives free bread to poor Muslims. Can Zakat money be given to this bakery to feed the poor?

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيْم

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

Allah always rewards us according to our intentions, the Shariah mentions “All matters are considered according to their intended purposes”[1].

Therefore, if there is a guarantee that ONLY such persons who are eligible to receive Zakat are benefited from it and the Bakery is run by trustworthy Muslims, then it would be permissible to give the Zakat to such a bakery for that purpose.
