\n\tI love one girl we want to do nikah, but I can’t inform her house but at my home everybody knows. To complete her study, it will take 8 years, soI just want to know can I do nikah now or after 8 years can I do nikah?<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tIn principle, marriage is Sunnah Muakkadah<\/em> (an emphasized Sunnah). However, it becomes Wajib<\/em>(necessary) upon a person to get married who cannot control his sexual urges. Furthermore, it is Fardh<\/em> (compulsory) upon a person to get married if he is convinced that by not doing so, he will fall into zina<\/em><\/a> (fornication). [1]<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAbdullah ibn Mas’ud Radiallahu Anhu narrates that Rasulullah Sallalhu Alayhi wa sallam said;<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tOh young men, you should marry, for indeed it helps in lowering the gaze and protecting the private parts. Whoever among you is not able to marry, then let him fast, for indeed fasting will diminish his sexual desire." [2]<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tIf a man is able to pay the mahr <\/em>(dowry), and is capable of financially supporting his spouse, he should make an effort to get married. In a situation where the man maynot be able to financially support his spouse, he may perform the nikah only and continue to live separately. This way, one will not have to worry about financial costs and it will be permissible to interact with each other. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAli Radiallahu Anhu narrates that Rasulullah Sallalhu Alayhi wa Sallam said, three matters should not be delayed, prayer when its time comes, burial when the funeral has arrived, and the marriage of a single woman when a well-suited man has proposed.” [3]<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tIt is advisable that you consult with elders or a respected leader of the community to explain to her family the harms of delaying marriage.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n
