There is no detestability at all. With regards to your second question, in the Hanafi Fiqh, it is considered disliked to prostrate on a turban or a piece of cloth without any reason. However, if the turban or hat is on the head and is covering the forehead and is prostrated on, the salah will be valid for the reason that a covering between the forehead and ground does not prevent the validity of prostration. (Nurul Idah p.169) Finally, I will conclude by adding that it is obligatory to prostrate on something, which the forehead can completely stabilise. Thus, prostration is not permitted on snow or rice in which the head cannot stabilise or settle.
