\n\tKnowing the games of shaytan and the enemies of Islam, I always do my utmost to only search for Ilm on trusted Islamic sites, by inputting 'site: TrustedSite my query' into google.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t \n<\/p>\n

\n\tUnfortunately, when trying to look up the age of Aisha (r.a) when she passed away, I was hasty and forgot to write the site name. And the first result was, of course, a paragraph full of fitnah from Wikipedia, which is notoriously unreliable for matters of deen, full of things taken out-of-context, twisted or outright fabricated. I, unfortunately, read the paragraph as I didn't realise my search error until I got to the end. This is what I read:<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t \n<\/p>\n

\n\t'Aisha died at her home in Medina on 17 Ramadan 58 AH (16 July 678). She was 67 years old. Some such as Sibt ibn al-Jawzi, Hakim Sanai, and Khwaja Mehboob Qasim Chishti Muhsarafee Qadiri say that she was murdered by Muawiyah.'<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t \n<\/p>\n

\n\tOf course, I immediately treated this information as if I hadn't read it because I'd never heard of such accusations, and I had always learned that Muawiyah (r.a) was a respected sahabi who erred in his ijtihad during the conflict with Ali (r.a), but whose intentions were good and who feared Allah. I also didn't recognise any of the names mentioned, though I momentarily confused Sibt ibn al Jawzi with the more famous Ibn al-Jawzi. And, of course, I wouldn't trust anything from that site.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t \n<\/p>\n

\n\tAlthough my intention was to treat it as if I never read it, I still could not help being disturbed by such accusations. So I thought it would be best to ask one who knows to enlighten me on this matter.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAre these three scholars from within the folds of Sunni Islam, and if so, why would they say such a grave thing (if they even did)? What is the majority of the ulema's opinion on this accusation (if it even exists in authentic sources)?<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tNone of the famous books of Islamic history and biographies mentions that Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) was killed by Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him). Rather she fell sick and then passed away.[1]<\/sup><\/sup><\/a><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t \n<\/p>\n

\n\tThere are numerous narrations which mention the good relationship between Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) and Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him). In one instance, Muawiyah wrote to Aisha asking her for advice. In another instance, Muawiyah sent Aisha a large amount of money which she distributed amongst the people.[2]<\/sup><\/sup><\/a><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n
