\n\tQuestion<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tHi, I have read regarding female <\/span><\/span>istinjaa<\/span><\/span>, that women are required to wash the outer part only. <\/span><\/span>However,<\/span><\/span> the urethra is situated inside the <\/span><\/span>labia<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span>minora<\/span><\/span>. Does that mean the women should wash <\/span><\/span>labia<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span>majora<\/span><\/span>, then inside the <\/span><\/span>labia<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span>minora<\/span><\/span> where the urethra is leaving the vagina as well?<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAnswer:<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tIstinja<\/span><\/span>a is a sunnah <\/span><\/span>mu’akkadah<\/span><\/span> as it was an act which our Prophet (<\/span><\/span>PBUH<\/span><\/span>) was persistent in performing. [[1]<\/sup><\/sup><\/a>]<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tInstinja is sunnah <\/span><\/span>mu’akkadah<\/span><\/span> when the impurity (urine\/<\/span><\/span>faeces<\/span><\/span>) has not spread more than a dirham from the opening. If it has spread by more than a dirham then it becomes fard to wash it. [[2]<\/sup><\/sup><\/a>]<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t \n<\/p>\n

\n\tSince the urethra is located on the labia minora for a woman, she will wash the labia minora. If the impurity has spread to the labia majora i.e. onto the vaginal lips, she will be required to wash this.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n
