\n\tAssalamualikum, <\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tIn our community <\/span><\/span>masjid<\/span><\/span>, we have different Imam volunteering to lead Taraweeh every year. The residents collect money (based on how much each person is willing to give) and they give it to the Imam as a gift. So, can we give this money from our zakat?<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAnswer:<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tBefore giving Zakat to a person, it is a must to know if that person is eligible for zakat.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe following group of people will be entitled to receive zakah:<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t \n<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. \n\t\tThe Poor person (Faqir): the person who has some amount of possession however it does not reach the amount of nisab.<\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n
  2. \n\t\tThe Destitute Person: the person who does not possess anything.<\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n
  3. \n\t\tThe Zakah collector: The leader will set aside an amount for him.<\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n
  4. \n\t\tA slave who has been granted permission to purchase his freedom (Mukatab)<\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n
  5. \n\t\tThe person in debt who is unable to settle it and does not have other savings exceeding the amount of nisab.<\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n
  6. \n\t\tThe warrior in the path of Allah.<\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n
  7. \n\t\tThe traveler who does not have access to his wealth.<\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    \n\t \n<\/p>\n

    \n\tIf the abovementioned people possess belongings which have a value above the nisab amount, <\/span><\/span>however<\/span><\/span>, <\/span><\/span>shari'ah<\/span><\/span> has not included them within the list of items upon which zakah needs to be given, they will be entitled to receiving zakah.[1]<\/a><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

    \n\t \n<\/p>\n

    \n\tIf the imam is <\/span><\/span>an eligible<\/span><\/span> person to receive zakat, only then it will be permissible to give him zakat.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n
