\n\tHow much monthly pocket money does the husband have to give to his wife according to Islam? Basically, what is <\/span><\/span>the wife's<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span>nafqa<\/span><\/span> in UK currency?<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tIn the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAnswer:<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tIsl\u0101m enjoins on the husband to provide for the wife and children.[1]<\/a> The basis of this obligation are the following verses:<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t \n<\/p>\n

\n\t(S\u016brah “Lodge them where you lodge according to your means, and do not injure them in order that you may <\/strong><\/span>straighten<\/span><\/strong> them; and if they are pregnant, spend on them until they lay down their burden; then if they suckle for you, give them their recompense and enjoin one another among you to do good; and if you disagree, another (woman) shall suckle for him..”<\/strong><\/span><\/span>al-Tal\u0101q:<\/span><\/span> 6)<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t \n<\/p>\n

\n\tAnd:<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t \n<\/p>\n

\n\t“but the father of the child shall bear the cost of the mother’s food and clothing on a reasonable basis”<\/strong> (S\u016brah al-Baqarah: 233)<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t \n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Messenger of All\u0101h (May the peace and blessings of All\u0101h be upon him) said:<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t \n<\/p>\n

\n\t“They have right upon you for their maintenance and clothing”<\/strong> (Ab\u016b Daw\u016bd)<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t \n<\/p>\n

\n\tHe also said to the wife of Ab\u016b Sufyan:<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t \n<\/p>\n

\n\t“Take what is sufficient for you and your child on a reasonable basis<\/strong>.” (Reported by al-Bukh\u0101ri)”<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n
