Some families even hold Quran khatms and collectively do duas at the end. <\/span><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Is it permissible to visit these homes to offer condolences?<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><strong><u>In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><strong><u>Answer:<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Four points need to be addressed here:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Ta\u2019ziyah<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Eesaal e Thawaab<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Quran Khatms<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Collective duas<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><u>Ta\u2019ziyah:<\/u><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">When a person has passed away, his immediate family is in a state of grief and mourning. Therefore, the relatives, neighbors, and friends should adopt such a manner, which will lessen their grief on the family. One should try and console the deceased\u2019s family.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">It has been reported from Abdullah RadiAllahu Anh that the Prophet of Allah SallallahuAlahiWasalam has said; \u201cThe one who consoles a person who has been afflicted with some calamity receives the same reward as the afflicted person.\u201d <\/span><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">(Jami Tirimizi, Book of Janaa\u2019iz, Hadith 1073).<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">It has been reported from Abu Barzah RadiAllahu Anh that the Messenger of Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam has said: &#8220;Whoever consoles a bereaved mother, he will be clothed with a Burd (garment) in Paradise.&#8221;<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">(Jami Tirmidhi, Book of Janaa\u2019iz, Hadith 1076)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><u>Eesaal e Thawaab:<\/u><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Eesaale Thawaab (the conveying of an act of virtue to someone) is permissible regardless of whatever deed it may be, whether it is Salah, Fast, Hajj, Tawaf, Umrah etc\u2026 The scholars have also said that one should convey the reward for the entire Muslim Ummah, male and female because it reaches them and the doer\u2019s reward is not decreased at all. <\/span><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">(Raddul Muhtar, \u00a0p.10 v.4)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Once a man came to the Prophet of Allah Sallallahu Alahi Wasalam and said; \u201cMy mother has suddenly died and did not leave any will but I suspect if she did that then she would have told me to give something to charity. Now if I offer something in charity on her behalf, will she get the reward? The Prophet of Allah Sallallahu Alahi Wasalam replied: \u201cyes\u201d, then the man said that \u201cI make you (the Prophet) as my witness that I offer my garden full of fruits to charity.\u201d <\/span><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">(Sahih Bukhari p.386 v.1)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">To recite any portion from the Holy Quran and to pass the rewards to the deceased is something permissible and rewarding.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><u>Quran Khatms:<\/u><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Quran Khatms are allowed as long as the following three conditions are found it will be considered permissible:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">The intention should be for the sake of Allah.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">The Quran is recited properly with its correct pronunciation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">The reciters should not take any money for it. <\/span><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">(NizamulFatawa p.151 v.1)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><u>Collective Duas:<\/u><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Anas bin Malik Radi Allahu Anh narrated that: <\/span><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">the Prophet SAW said: \u201cThe supplication is the essence of worship.\u201d <\/span><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">(Jami Tirmidhi, Book of Supplication, Hadith 3371)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Ibn Abbas Radi Allahu Anh Narrated that, <\/span><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">The Messenger of Allah SAW said: \u201cAllah\u2019s hand (help) is with the group.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Dua wraps up the worship and to do it collectively is not a sin.
