What are the etiquettes when listening to Qiraa’ah? Is it permissible to speak while it is being played on a CD?<\/span><\/p>\n

In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful. \u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Answer\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/h1>\n

 <\/p>\n

Allah (SWA) in the Holy Qur\u2019an has said: \u201cSo when the Qur\u2019an is recited, listen to it, and be silent that you may receive mercy\u201d (Surah Al A\u2019raaf v.204)\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

From the aforementioned verse we can derive that when the Holy Qur\u2019an is being recited, it is compulsory to listen attentively. It is not permissible to play an audiotape of the recitation of the Qur\u2019an while engaged in other activities. Furthermore, it is not permissible to play the Holy Qur\u2019an in such a place where people are involved in other works because this results in the Holy Qur\u2019an being disrespected. (Maariful Qur\u2019an p.164 v.4) Therefore, it will not be permissible to speak to others whilst the Holy Qur\u2019an is being recited from the CD.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
