Is it unlawful for someone who has STD to get married in Islam?<\/span><\/p>\n

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Answer<\/span><\/span><\/h1>\n

 <\/p>\n

Two types of hadith can be found regarding the aforementioned issue.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The first is a tradition narrated by Saaiduna Anas Bin Malik Radiallahu Anhu narrated that the Prophet of Allah Sallallahu Alahi Wasalam said: \u201cThere is no adwa (spreading of contagious disease without the permission of Allah) and no tiyarah (superstitious belief in bird omens), but I like optimism.\u201d They said, \u201cWhat is optimism?\u201d He said, \u201cA good word.\u201d\u00a0 (Sahih Bukhari p.856 v.2 & Sahih Muslim)<\/span><\/p>\n

The second is a hadith where the Prophet of Allah Sallallahu Alahi Wasalam said: \u201cFlee from the leper as you would flee from a lion.\u201d (Sahih Bukhari p.850 v.2)<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Islam does not deny the existence of contagious diseases. However, the two hadiths do not contradict each other as we as Muslims believe that it is Allah, and not the other infected person, who causes the disease to afflict someone. The statement \u201c<\/em>no contagious disease<\/em>\u201d means that a contagious disease will not affect a person except with the permission of Allah, for indeed Allah is the one who causes all-natural causes. (Mazahirul Haqq p.293 v.5)<\/span><\/p>\n

Regarding your question, if someone\u2019s belief in Allah\u2019s trust and power is weak then it is best to avoid the marriage. Otherwise, one can get married to someone who may have STD.<\/span><\/p>\n
