Question:<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Is it permissible to fish just for the sake of fishing, having fun, not with the intention to keep the fish? I\u00b4m aware of the Fatwa by asking Imam there is a Fatwa that it\u2019s not allowed to fish just for sake of it…. but I wonder why still so many people (including some Ulema) doing it? Is there any other opinion in this regard?<\/span><\/p>\n

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Answer:<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It is not befitting of a believer to kill a living animal just for sport and target practice. We should fear Allah and do not go fishing to catch fish for fun or sport.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Allah says in Quran: Made lawful for you is the game of the sea and eating thereof, as a benefit for you and for travellers.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The term used \u201cand (use) it for food as a provision\u201c. Meaning that Allah made fishing halal only if the fish is being used for food.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is narrated from ‘Amr bin Sharid RA “I heard Sharid say:<\/span><\/p>\n

‘I heard the Messenger of Allah say: Whoever kills a small bird for no reason, it will beseech Allah on the Day of Resurrection saying: O Lord, so and so killed me for no reason. And he did not kill me for any beneficial purpose.”‘ (Sunan Nasai Hadith Number: 4446)<\/span><\/p>\n
