If he happens to hear a verse of sajda being recited by someone else next to him, does he has to perform a sajda tilawa, even though he only heard it indirectly with one ear?<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">2. Does he have to concentrate on what the other students recite so that he doesn&#8217;t miss a verse of sajda that is recited next to him?<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">3. If he clearly hears the recitation of another student but does not know that the verse recited is a verse of sajda (he is not a hafiz), will he be held accountable for not performing a sajda tilawa?<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Answer:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Sajdah Tilaawah must be done if a person recites or hears a Sajdah Ayah, regardless of how it\u2019s heard.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">As it is written in Badai Al Sanai:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u0633\u0628\u0628 \u0648\u062c\u0648\u0628\u0647\u0627 \u0623\u062d\u062f \u0634\u064a\u0626\u064a\u0646 : \u0627\u0644\u062a\u0644\u0627\u0648\u0629 \u0623\u0648 \u0627\u0644\u0633\u0645\u0627\u0639 \u0643\u0644 \u0648\u0627\u062d\u062f \u0645\u0646\u0647\u0645\u0627 \u0639\u0644\u0649 \u062d\u0627\u0644\u0647 \u0645\u0648\u062c\u0628<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u201cThe reason for it (Sajdah Tilaawah) being obligatory is one of two things: recitation or listening, each of them makes it Waajib.\u201d (Badai Al Sanai, Vol 1, Pg 557)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">A student will not need to concentrate on the recitation of other students to avoid missing a Sajdah Ayah. Rather, he should continue his own recitation and if he happens to hear a Sajdah Ayah, a Sajdah will become Waajib.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">If a person is unaware that it is a Sajdah Ayah and nobody informs him, then InshaaAllah he will not be held responsible as that was out of his control.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Allah says in the Qur\u2019an (2:286):<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u201cGod does not burden any soul with more than it can bear: each gains whatever good it has done, and suffers it&#8217;s bad\u201d And Allah teaches us a Dua regarding this (Qur\u2019an 2:286): \u201c\u2018Lord, do not take us to task if we forget or make mistakes. Lord, do not burden us as You burdened those before us. Lord, do not burden us with more than we have the strength to bear. Pardon us, forgive us, and have mercy on us.
