I have a question regarding the use of chap-sticks and lip balms which contain cetyl alcohol and oleyl alcohol. I wanted to know whether the above-mentioned products are \u1e25<\/em>al\u0101l<\/em> to use?<\/span><\/p>\n

Answer:<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

My research shows that cetyl and oleyl alcohol are derived from plants and fish oils. Therefore, they are permitted to use it externally on the body.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him<\/em>) said, \u201cAll\u0101h has sent down both the illness and the cure, and He has created a cure for every disease, so treat yourselves medically, but use nothing unlawful.\u201d \u2013 (Ab\u016b D\u0101w\u016bd 3874)1<\/sup><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cEvery element which intoxicates in large quantities is unlawful [to consume] in small quantities as well.\u201d – (\u1e62a\u1e25\u012b\u1e25 Ibn \u1e24ibb\u0101n: 5382)2<\/sup><\/span><\/p>\n
