Assalam Alaykum, my question is if the game episode choosing your story is permissible or not. What if you are reading it just to read something and reading it does not make you do haram? These are all fictional stories<\/span><\/p>\n

The following response will discuss the following:<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Generally, it is disliked to read fiction stories and plots for leisure and entertainment due to the origins of the story being baseless. However, if the themes and concepts of the story are corrupt and against the shariah belief, then it is absolutely impermissible to read such stories. (1)<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    The reason is that what we read is influential and has an impact on us as well as it is a time waste that keeps us from the remembrance of Allah.<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    It is stated in a hadith:<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Abu Musa reported Allah’s Messenger (\ufdfa) as saying: The similitude of good company and that of bad company is that of the owner of the musk and of the one (iron-smith) blowing bellows, and the owner of the musk would either offer you free of charge or you would buy it from him or you would. smell its pleasant odour, and so far as one who blows the. bellows is concerned, he would either burn your clothes or you shall have to smell its repugnant smell. (Sahih Muslim, 2628) (2)<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    What we consume in the form of novels, stories and digital content has an impact on our mindset and thinking.<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Therefore, one must be cautious of the concept of the storyboard and ensure that it doesn’t contain topics that go against the shariah.<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    As for games, generally, it is to be avoided and not permissible to engage in. The reason for this is that though there is a benefits to gaming such as entertainment and leisure, the harm is greater, and therefore, despite it not being explicitly impermissible, its harm is too great to entertain gaming. (3)<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Therefore, in response to your query, one should avoid engaging with fictitious stories and games that consume excessive time and have no moral value. Thus, you should avoid reading these stories.<\/span><\/p>\n
