{"id":2540,"date":"2011-09-02T14:35:29","date_gmt":"2011-09-02T14:35:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/daruliftabirmingham.co.uk\/wp\/?p=2540"},"modified":"2011-09-02T14:35:29","modified_gmt":"2011-09-02T14:35:29","slug":"is-it-permissible-to-wear-a-wig","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/daruliftabirmingham.co.uk\/home\/is-it-permissible-to-wear-a-wig\/","title":{"rendered":"Is it permissible to wear a wig?"},"content":{"rendered":"<table dir=\"ltr\" width=\"100%\" border=\"0\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"24\">\u00a0<\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\">\n<pre>Is it permissible to wear a wig?<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/pre>\n<p align=\"center\"><strong>In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h1><strong>Answer<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>Wearing the hair of another human, or joining human hair to one\u2019s hair is forbidden in Islam, as it involves deception and using a part of the human body, both of which are unlawful.<\/p>\n<p>Sayyiduna Abu Hurayra (RA) narrates that the Prophet of Allah (SAW) said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAllah has cursed the woman who joins (her or someone else\u2019s) hair (with the hair of another man or a woman) and the woman who asks for her hair to be joined (with the hair of another person) and the one who tattoos (herself or someone else) and the one asks to get tattooed.\u201d <em>(Sahih Bukhari p.879 v.2)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the Prophet of Allah (SAW) has said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhosoever deceives us he is not from us<em>.\u201d (Tabrani)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Therefore, one can deduce that it is forbidden to join one\u2019s hair with another regardless of whether the hair is fitted into the hair or whether it is just a wig, which can be removed when one wishes.<\/p>\n<p>However, if the wig is made from animal hair (other than a pig) or with synthetic fibres, then it will be permissible. <em>(Fatawa Hindiyyah p.358 v.5)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Only Allah Knows Best.<\/p>\n<p>Mohammed Tosir Miah<\/p>\n<p>Darul Ifta Birmingham.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0 Is it permissible to wear a wig?\u00a0 In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful.
