If a couple has their nikah done, and the parents aren’t agreeing on getting the rukhsati done for cultural reasons, and the wife really wants to see her husband, what would be the correct course of action for the husband?<\/span><\/p>\n

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Answer:<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Marriage is established as soon as the marriage contract is done, and you are allowed to consummate the marriage after the marriage is established. i<\/sup><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It is becoming increasingly common these days for some people to announce their marriage contract earlier and then consummate their marriage later.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

They do the nikah ceremony, but the woman does not go to her husband to consummate the marriage.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The reasons are generally financial reasons, distant marriages or the husband is not ready to support his wife etc. So, they delay the consummation of marriage till the husband feels established.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

There is nothing wrong with delaying the consummation if both parties agree. But if the spouse’s parents are not allowing you to be together without any reason, then stopping something lawful without any valid reason is impermissible and sinful.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In your case, it will be best that your families sit together and solve the problem and realise that according to Islam you are married to her and she has the right to meet you.<\/span><\/p>\n
