This happened to me in Ramadan 2022. And it makes me very sad because I fasted most of the month (not including the days of the period).<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

What happened was that I was reciting and as usual, I was facing evil temptations from the nafs. I was struggling to recite a part of an Ayah in Surah Aal-e-‘Imran and suddenly an evil impulse came into my heart, either a denial of The Qur’an or disrespect of It. I can’t remember exactly.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And I allowed myself to feel that evil impulse. I ACTIVELY felt it. Meaning it was a part of my heart suddenly.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Now I’m very stressed that was this Kufr? It seems like it was determination. A small level of determination.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Please help me understand if this was Kufr or not. I’m feeling depressed that all my good deeds are lost.<\/span><\/p>\n

Without further elaboration on exactly what these Waswasas<\/em> are, it is not possible to work out whether these whispers are matters of disbelief or not.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

All\u0101h Ta\u2019\u0101l\u0101<\/em> has reminded us, that He will test us to check our fortitude and resolve in All\u0101h Ta\u2019\u0101l\u0101.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cDo the people think that they will be left to say, “We believe” and they will not be put to test?\u201d [Surah Al-\u2018Ankabut; 29:2<\/em>] [1]<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cWe shall surely test you with fear and hunger, loss of property, lives and crops; but give glad tidings to those who have fortitude. Who, when struck by misfortune, says: \u2018We belong to All\u0101h<\/em>, and surely to Him we shall return.\u2019\u201d [Surah Al-Baqarah; 2:155-156<\/em>] [2]<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHe Who created Death and Life, that He may test which of you is best in worship: and He is the Exalted in Might, Oft-Forgiving.\u201d [Surah Al-Mulk; 67:2<\/em>] [3]<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

However, regardless of whatever difficulties we are going through we should not become despondent in the mercy of All\u0101h<\/em>. All\u0101h Ta\u2019\u0101l\u0101<\/em> forgives all sins (big or small). [Surah Az-Zumar; 39:53<\/em>] [4]<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

All\u0101h Ta\u2019\u0101l\u0101<\/em> reminds us that He does not burden us with any trial greater than that which we can bare. [Surah Al-Baqarah; 2:286<\/em>] [5]<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Whatever troubles you are going through, All\u0101h Ta\u2019\u0101l\u0101<\/em> has specifically chosen to test you with these because All\u0101h Ta\u2019\u0101l\u0101<\/em> knows that you can handle it and through this hardship, All\u0101h Ta\u2019\u0101l\u0101<\/em> wants to give you this opportunity to turn back to Him and draw nearer to Him.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

All\u0101h Ta\u2019\u0101l\u0101<\/em> says that with every hardship comes two periods of ease. [Surah Al-Sharh; 94:5-6<\/em>] [6]<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Prophet \ufdfa has further reiterated, \u201cNo calamity befalls a Muslim<\/em> but All\u0101h <\/em>expiates some of his sins because of it\u2026\u201d [Sahih Al-Bukhari; Hadith 5640<\/em>] [7]<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Imam Abu Ja\u2019far At-Tahawi<\/em> mentions in his remarkable work on Aqidah<\/em>, Al Aqidah At-Tahawiyah<\/em>, that we do not consider any of the people of the Qiblah<\/em> to be disbelievers because of any wrong action (which they have committed), as long as they do not consider that action to be lawful. Nor do we say that the wrong action of a person who has belief does not have any harmful effects on them. [Al Aqidah At-Tahawiyah<\/em>; pages 91-92] [8]<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

From this we understand, that the commission of any sin, be it physical or mental is not sufficient to take one out of the fold of Islam. However, it must be emphasized that the commission of any sin has detrimental effects on one\u2019s own Imaan<\/em>. Left unrectified, it could lead to further sins.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

At times of sin, one should actively attempt to remind oneself of the destroyer of pleasures, which is death. (i.e., If I were to die right now, then in what state will I be returning to my Lord). This should help in quashing any evil thoughts which crop into your mind. [Sunan Ibn Majah: Hadith<\/em> 4258] [9]<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Only through sincere repentance and Taubah<\/em> can one truly atone for their sins.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

There are three conditions for repenting;<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n
