Question is not regarding tasweer. Ignoring jawaz\/ adame jawaz of tasweer, looking at awrah without shahwah through a medium e.g. video or mirror, is it the same \/ I.e. sinful as looking directly?<\/span><\/p>\n

All\u0101h Ta\u2019\u0101l\u0101<\/em> says: \u201cAnd tell the believing women that they must lower their gazes and guard their private parts, and must not expose their adornment, except that which appears thereof, and must wrap their bosoms with their shawls, and must not expose their adornment…\u201d [Surah an-Noor; 24:31<\/em>] [1]<\/span><\/p>\n

The entire body of a free woman is her Awrah<\/em>, except her face and hands. [Al-Bin\u0101yah: vol. 2, pg. 137-138<\/em>] [2]<\/span><\/p>\n

All\u0101h Ta\u2019\u0101l\u0101<\/em> implores us: \u201cDo not even go close to fornication. It is indeed a shameful act, and an evil way to follow.\u201d [Surah al-Isr\u0101; 17:32<\/em>] [3]<\/span><\/p>\n

The Prophet \ufdfa said: \u201cBeware! Avoid sitting on the roads (ways).\u201d The people said; \u201cThere is no way out of it as these are our sitting places where we have talks.\u201d The Prophet \ufdfa said: \u201cIf you must sit there, then observe the rights of the way.\u201d They asked: \u201cWhat are the rights of the way?\u201d He \ufdfa said: \u201cThey are the lowering of your gazes (on seeing what is illegal to look at), refraining from harming people, returning greetings, advocating good and forbidding evil<\/strong>.\u201d [S\u0101h\u012bh al-Bukh\u0101r\u012b: Hadith 2465<\/em>] [4]<\/span><\/p>\n

The ruling on lowering one\u2019s gaze stands as a preventative measure to protect us. The evils of which are clearly visible in our societies when this ruling is exploited.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

If one fears lust or even a hint of possibility towards any Fitnah<\/em> occurring then he must lower his gaze.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Generally, we should<\/em> not be looking at the private parts of any individual including our own unless there is a need. Where there is a need to look, then it should be limited solely to what is required.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We must never look towards the opposite gender, especially towards their private parts. This includes all Mahram<\/em> women aswell (i.e.). The only exception being one’s spouse as there is no pardah<\/em> between spouses.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The sin is the same, whether one looks at Har\u0101m<\/em> directly (i.e., in person) or indirectly (i.e., through a video). Both must be avoided. Private parts are referred to as ‘private parts’ for exactly that reason, that they should be kept private and should not attract unnecessary attention.<\/span><\/p>\n
