Recently a family member passed away and left me a portion of his house which came up to \u00a350,000.<\/span><\/p>\n

The house was bought from someone within the family and was agreed by me that my share in the house (\u00a350,000) can be paid to me slowly when ever he has the money which could take a number of years and he will pay me when he has the whole amount. The question is that \u00a350,000 do i need to pay zakat on it every year from now or do i only pay the zakat once that money has come into my hands<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Once the money comes into your possession which reaches the rate at which you need to pay zakat then zakat should be observed and paid. You do not need to pay the zakaat of the full \u00a350,000 as it is not in your possession at the moment in its entire form.<\/span><\/p>\n
