Question:<\/strong><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

For a month, I have been searching for the answers to the Questions regarding haram earnings and items bought from haraam money. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find them and I’m stressing so much because of the validity of my salah. I will break down this question into three points.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

1) What is the ruling regarding someone who’s been cheating government benefits for 6 years and now wants to repent but doesn’t have any money left to pay back to the government, the amount is too high?<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

2)Can they pay back monthly little by little when they get a job? Obviously, it’s risky for them to tell the government about the fraud they committed so can they just give that money to a Muslim charity in that country?<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

3)Should they get rid of the items they purchased such as clothing etc because there’s a hadith which says the prayer is invalid in such clothing? Or can they keep the items as long as they pay the amount of money back monthly? It might take years to pay back that money.<\/span><\/p>\n

Answer <\/strong><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

To steal from the public funds is not permissible and is worse than stealing from an individual. This is because government funds belong to the public and to steal from them is like stealing from the entire public. Severe warnings for this crime are given in the text of Aha\u0304dith<\/em> and it is considered a major sin. It is against the dignity of the believer that he engages in an act of fraud and dishonesty.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

However, if a person repents for their sin and decides to repay the government but is fearful of being seriously persecuted if he confesses the crime, then he can give the money away to charity or can give it as a donation to the government.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The meaning of the narration of the Messenger of Allah (may peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) is that the sala\u0304t of such a person will be valid, but will not be rewarded for the prayers.<\/span><\/p>\n
