1.\u00a0 If one rakat of Witr or three rakats of Witr with one Tashahhud are given in “Sahih Al Buhari and Muslim “why do Hanafi scholars not follow them?<\/span><\/p>\n

Even if there were other arguments, are not the sources in ” Al Buhari and Muslim more preferable?<\/span><\/p>\n

2.\u00a0 I live in a secular society. Sometimes a long beard is considered as a sign of extremism or terrorism. Can I grow a short beard which is shorter than the length of a fist?<\/span><\/p>\n

1. It is imperative to first know that the Fuqaha\u0304<\/em> (Islamic Jurists) in extrapolating rulings from the Qura\u0304n and Aha\u0304hith, have their own principles and maxims. When the evidence contradicts each other in a ruling, each Ima\u0304m <\/em>would give preference to a piece of evidence based on the principle and maxim he preferred.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

With regard to the witr <\/em>sala\u0304h and how it is performed, because the narrations are different and show different ways regarding how it is done, each Ima\u0304m <\/em>gave preference to the way that is according to the principles he follows. The Ahnaaf <\/em>gave preference to the narrations, which are highly authentic, whereby the witr <\/em>sala\u0304h is of three raka\u0304\u2019t <\/em>with one sala\u0304m in the end.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

(<\/em>Sayidina) Ubay bin Ka\u2019b (May Allah Most High be pleased with him) said, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) used to recite Sabihismi Rabika al-Ala in Witr. In the second Rakah, Qul Ya Ayuhal Kafiroon, and Qul huwAllahu Ahad in the third. He (peace be upon him) would not make Salam except at the end of them (the three Rakahs). And He (peace be upon him) used to say (after the final Salam), Subhana al-Malik al-Qudoos, thrice. (Sunan al-Nasai 1701, Sahih).<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Other Fuqaha\u0304<\/em> (Islamic Jurists) have given preference to other narrations which suggest different ways of doing the witr <\/em>Sala\u0304h.<\/span><\/p>\n

2. Growing of the beard is heavily emphasised in the Narrations of The Messenger Of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) where he repeatedly instructed the growing of the beard. The majority of the Scholars are of the opinion that growing a beard is wa\u0304jib <\/em>(compulsory) for Muslim males. In the Hanafi <\/em>School of isla\u0304mic laws, it is wa\u0304jib <\/em>to grow a beard and it is a sunnah <\/em>to keep it a fist length.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It will not be advisable to cut the beard less than a fist length on the feeble excuse that people will regard you as an extremist. A person should carry out the injections of Islam with little regard for what people will say or think. The norms of society will keep changing, but that does not mean we will alter the rulings accordingly. But instead, we should hold firm to the teachings of Isla\u0304m and stay steadfast.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

3. It should be noted that authentic Aha\u0304dith <\/em>are not only those that Ima\u0304m Al Bukh\u0304ari <\/em>(may Allah have mercy on him) had narrated. But those that are narrated by him are deemed authentic base principles of authenticity that Ima\u0304m Al Bukh\u0304ari <\/em>have outlined. Other Ima\u0304m <\/em>of hadith have their own definition of Sahi\u0304h<\/em> (authentic) that they work with. Also, it should be noted that there are not only two categories of Aha\u0304dith <\/em>(Sahi\u0304h <\/em>and Dai\u0304if) <\/em>but rather there are many other categories like hasan etc, <\/em>which are also called authentic.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Ahnaaf <\/em> (Hanafi School) have given preference to those narrations which indicate that there is no raising of hands in Sala\u0304h only for the first takbi\u0304r in the beginning of the sala\u0304h. This is because most of the senior companions of the Messenger of Allah ( Peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) did not do rafu\u2019l yadin <\/em>(raising of the hands) during sala\u0304h. Those narrations that suggest rafu\u2019l yadin<\/em> was done are abrogated because the companions did not do rafu\u2019l yadin<\/em> after the demise of Rasulullah [sallallaahu alayhi wasallam]<\/span><\/p>\n

Ibn Mas\u2019ood [radhiallaahu anhu] says, \u2018I shall show you how Nabi [sallallaahu alayhi wasallam] performed Salaat and he only made Raf-ul yadayn in the beginning of Salaat.\u2019 (Sunan al-Tirmidhi Hadith257)<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Ibn Mas\u2019ood [radhiallaahu anhu] says, I prayed with the messenger of Allah [sallallaahu alayhi wasallam], Abu Bakr ( Radiallahu anhu) and Umar( Radiallahu anhu). They did not raised their hands except at the beginning of the prayer.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

4. Firstly it is important to know that marriage in Islam is considered an act of worship. In normal circumstances it is an emphasised sunnah<\/em> to get married, if one had the ability to have sexual intercourse, pay the dowry and maintain the wife. One will be sinful for not practising an emphasised sunnah<\/em> and if he does it with the intention of chastity, he will be rewarded.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

If a person fears that he will not be able to fulfil the rights of the wife or he fears he will do injustice to her then he may remain unmarried. However, the messenger of Allah [sallallaahu alayhi wasallam] had advised Fasting (Saum) <\/em>for those who can not get married.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Allah’s Messenger (<\/em>\ufdfa) said, “O young people! Whoever among you can marry, should marry, because it helps him lower his gaze and guard his modesty (i.e. his private parts from committing illegal sexual intercourse etc.), and whoever is not able to marry, should fast, as fasting diminishes his sexual power.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

5. In performing nawa\u0304fil <\/em>(optional prayers) during the night or day, it is better to perform four four raka\u2019t <\/em>doing one sala\u0304m<\/em> at the end. <\/em>However, in the night it is allowed to perform up to eight raka\u2019t<\/em> with one sala\u0304m<\/em> sitting for tashahud<\/em> after every two raka\u2019t<\/em> but in the day it should not be more than four raka\u2019t.<\/em> It is also allowed to do two two raka\u2019t<\/em> by doing sala\u0304m <\/em>at the end of every two raka\u2019t.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

The Ahna\u0304f <\/em>have given preference to the sahi\u0304h <\/em>(authentic) Hadith that is mentioned in Sahi\u0304h Bukh\u0304ari <\/em>and Sahi\u0304h Muslim<\/em> which illustrates the ruling mentioned above. The hadith that mentioned the word mathsna\u0304 <\/em>which mean two two is interpreted as to mean even numbers not odd, that is the day and night nawa\u0304fil <\/em>(optional prayers) should be done in even numbers not odd numbers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says ;The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him and his family) did not increase in Ramadan or otherwise more than eleven rak\u2019ahs , She said: He did not increase in Ramadan or otherwise more than eleven rak\u2019ahs. He would pray four, do not ask about their beauty and length, then he would pray four, do not ask about their beauty and length, then he would pray three.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n
