Can we keep the name ‘kubra’ for a girl?<\/span><\/p>\n

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful<\/strong><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

Answer:<\/strong><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It should be noted that we are advised by the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) to give our children good names with good meaning. Therefore we should avoid naming our children names that are not commonly used by muslims and whose meanings are not known.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Messenger of All\u0101h (peace and blessings upon him) is reported to have said,<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cYou will all be called on the day of judgement by your names and your fathers names, so therefore keep good names for yourselves\u201d<\/span><\/i> (Ab\u016b D\u0101w\u016bd, Musnad A\u1e25med, D\u0101r Qu\u1e6dn\u012b)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The name \u201c<\/span>Kubra<\/span><\/i>\u201d is a unique name for girls with various meanings, it is considered to be the feminine of the Arabic word \u201c<\/span>Akbar<\/span><\/i>\u201d which means great, senior or majestic. Some say it is derived from the Persian language which has the same meaning as mentioned above.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In conclusion, keeping the name <\/span>\u201c Kubra\u201d <\/span><\/i>for girls is allowed and can be used since it has a good meaning.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
