Question:\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

1) Sitting with wet clothes in a car (such as after rain) where the car seats are made of pig leather and the glosses have pig ingredients, will there be a transfer of impurity onto the wet clothes regardless of whether the heated seats are turned on or not?<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

2) Is washing clothes with pig contamination with soap powder in a washing machine with one rinse cycle sufficient for the clothes to be pure to pray in?<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

3) In the above case where soap remains at the end of the wash cycle, will clothes be pure?<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

4) Clothes with pig impurity and pure clothes put in the washing machine together, will all clothes come out pure or will the pure clothes become impure?<\/span><\/p>\n

5) After pig-contaminated clothes have been washed in the washing machine, is the washing machine drum pure or does the drum need to be washed?\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Answer:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

A pig’s skin is completely impure. Therefore, anything made out of pig skin is not permissible to use even if the skin was turned into leather. However, if one were to touch the leather regardless of whether it was wet or dry, no impurity would transfer as the tanning process changes the nature of the skin. Hence, using leather made of pig skin would be impermissible even if it is tanned, but touching it would not lead to the transfer of impurity.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
