Question:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

At the funeral of Hazrat Saad bin Muadh (Radhi Allah Anhu), 70 thousand angels came. When he was taken down to the grave, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stayed at his grave for a long time (more than any of his companions before) and prayed. On being asked, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said that the grave had started to press Saad (may Allah be pleased with him).<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

    \n
  1. So I heard that one of the reasons for this was his bitterness towards his wife. And the second reason was that he used to not care about urine leaks.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Tell me which of these is proven by authentic evidence so that we can avoid disrespecting the prophet’s companions.<\/span><\/p>\n

    In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

    Answer:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    It has been narrated that 70,000 angels carried the deceased body of Saad bin Muadh (RA) towards his place of burial. These angels had never stepped foot on Earth prior to this event.<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    There is another narration which is absolutely authentic\u00a0 (\u062d\u062f\u064a\u062b \u0645\u062a\u0648\u0627\u062a\u0631): in which the throne of Allah Ta’ala shook upon the death of Saad bin Muadh (RA).<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Furthermore, it has also been recorded in Musnad Ahmad on the authority of Aisha (RA) that Rasulullah (SAW) said; seek refuge from the punishment of the grave. For had anyone been saved from the punishment of the grave, it would have been Saad bin Muadh (RA). However, his grave pressed him, then let him go.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    This hadeeth is narrated through another chain which is VERY weak and is a broken chain. In this chain, it does mention that the grave tightening was due to him not protecting himself from drops of urine. However, since this is not authentic, we should not have any negative thoughts about Saad bin Muadh (RA). Furthermore, I could not find any narration about Saad bin Muadh (RA) being bitter to his wife. Also, in the explanation of the Hadith, in the case of Saad bin Muadh (RA), his grave tightening was not more than a hug.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Hence, we should have the utmost respect for Saad bin Muadh (RA) as he was a brave warrior of Islam. At the same time, we should protect ourselves from urine when we urinate due to other authentic narrations stating that drops of urine can cause punishment in the grave. Finally, we should be good to our wives, as the Prophet (SAW) said: The best of you is the one who is best to his family. And I am the best of you to my family. (Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah)<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    However, we should not use Saad bin Muadh\u2019s (RA) grave tightening incident as proof of why we should treat our wives correctly.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
