 <\/p>\n

Pain injections are generally administered intramuscularly rather than intravenously. Intramuscular injections do not invalidate the fast, as they do not deliver substances directly into the body\u2019s internal cavities.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

A fast is only nullified when a liquid, food, or medicine reaches and settles in one of the three primary internal cavities: the throat, stomach, or intestines. Therefore, an injection will only break the fast if it is administered directly into these cavities or through a vein that directly transports the substance to them.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Injections given in any other part of the body, such as the muscles, do not affect the validity of the fast. However, while an intramuscular injection is permissible, an intravenous nutritional injection\u2014which provides sustenance such as an IV drip \u2014would invalidate the fast.<\/span><\/p>\n
