Assalmaoalikum, I have a question related to Roblox Game. I got to know that roblox game doesn’t allow people to sell their in game items for real money it’s against TOS. In that case is it haram to sell their item for real money? I have got seller friends they earn from there and work hard to get items and sell it for real money and they said roblox doesn’t care about rules that people sell it on third party website so it’s not haram. I want correct answer since I also earned 300$ from it I worked hard than later stopped and got in doubt if it’s halal or haram. Also if it’s haram can I keep that 300$ that I earned before I knew it’s haram?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When one plays online games or uses online software, one agrees to accept and abide by the conditions of the Terms of Service (TOS). This is an agreement between the maker of the software and the user. It can be viewed as a type of promise or trust.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Trustworthiness and honesty are important characteristics in Islam. A Muslim should uphold their promises and contracts and not break them unless there is no other option. Therefore, if real-money trading (RMT) is explicitly forbidden in the TOS of the game in question, one should abide by this rule which they have agreed to and refrain from RMT.<\/span><\/p>\n

In Surah Al-Isra, Allah (\u0639\u0632 \u0648 \u062c\u0644) commands us: {Honour [your] pledges, for you will surely be accountable for them.} [17:34]<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

You may wish to consider a better form of online work, adhering to what is permissible. It may be helpful for you to look into freelance work for an online service in fields such as translation or transcription.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

As for the money earned, since items were exchanged for currency as agreed-upon by both parties the transaction itself would be considered valid and there would be no need to return the money. One should simply seek forgiveness from Allah for the breaking of a trust one previously accepted.<\/span><\/p>\n
