I have a question regarding a situation involving my marriage and talaq. I am currently dealing with OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder), and I would like to clarify whether a talaq I may have uttered in a moment of distress or confusion is valid under Islamic law, specifically within the Hanafi school of thought.<\/span><\/p>\n

I have been struggling with OCD for some time, and I am under treatment, including medication and regular check-ups.<\/span><\/p>\n

I sometimes experience intrusive thoughts that I do not believe in but feel forced to engage with due to my condition.<\/span><\/p>\n

On one occasion, I was thinking about an imagined scenario involving my wife. These thoughts were persistent and involved doubts and imaginations about her. During this time, my OCD also led me to create scenarios to counter these thoughts, which further intensified the experience.<\/span><\/p>\n

What Happened:<\/span><\/p>\n

During this period of distress, I mumbled the word “talaq” to myself in a very low voice, unsure whether I had actually uttered it clearly or not.<\/span><\/p>\n

I did not have a clear intention to divorce my wife. My mind was consumed with the imagined scenario, and I was trying to counter my intrusive thoughts.<\/span><\/p>\n

I was in a state of mental disconnect, and my mind was preoccupied with the imaginary scenario. I did not fully understand what was going on around me at that moment, as I was lost in thought.<\/span><\/p>\n
