\n\tTo disobey Allah (SWA) and to oppose His Will is a grave sin in itself. Hence, many scholars are of the view that every disobedience of Allah is nothing but a major sin. The distinction between minor and major sins is made only when these are compared to each other.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tIn short, a sin which is technically known as minor does not mean that people should go about indulging in it neglectfully. On the <\/span><\/span>contrary,<\/span><\/span> if minor sin is done with nerve or heedlessness or even continuously it will become a major sin.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe definition of major sins, as indicated by the Qur’an and Hadith and as explained by our pious elders, is that sin on which a Hadd or punishment has been prescribed in the Quran or Sunnah to be enforced in this present life, or on which words of <\/span><\/span>curse<\/span><\/span> have appeared, or on which stern warning of Hell has been mentioned, are all major sins.   • \n\t\tWorshipping<\/span><\/span> others, or associating partners with Allah (shirk)<\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n
  • \n\t\tBelieving in superstition, <\/span><\/span>fortune-telling<\/span><\/span> and astrology<\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n
  • \n\t\tUsing magic or sorcery<\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n
  • \n\t\tCommitting murder<\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n
  • \n\t\tCommitting suicide<\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n
  • \n\t\tBearing false witness<\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n
  • \n\t\tCommitting adultery or fornication<\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n
  • \n\t\tCheating, stealing, and lying<\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n
  • \n\t\tCharging or paying interest or usury (riba)<\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n
  • \n\t\tConsuming pork or alcohol<\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n
  • \n\t\tConsuming the wealth of an orphan<\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n
  • \n\t\tNot fasting in the Month of Ramadan<\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n
  • \n\t\tNot observing daily prayers<\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n
  • \n\t\tNot paying <\/span><\/span>Zakat<\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n
  • \n\t\tGambling<\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n
  • \n\t\tBribery, betraying trusts and breaking contracts<\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n
  • \n\t\tBackbiting and slandering<\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n
  • \n\t\tBreaking the ties of kinship<\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n
  • \n\t\tDisobeying or not honouring one’s parents (Mazahirul Haqq p.110 v.1)<\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    \n\tMinor Sins <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

    • \n\t\tNot lowering your gaze. i.e. looking at unlawful women<\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n
    • \n\t\tCursing<\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n
    • \n\t\tBullying<\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n
    • \n\t\tImitating immoral people in dress, behaviour and lifestyle<\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
