{"id":590,"date":"2011-08-20T21:24:42","date_gmt":"2011-08-20T21:24:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/daruliftabirmingham.co.uk\/wp\/?p=590"},"modified":"2011-08-20T21:24:42","modified_gmt":"2011-08-20T21:24:42","slug":"who-are-the-people-of-the-book","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/daruliftabirmingham.co.uk\/home\/who-are-the-people-of-the-book\/","title":{"rendered":"Who are the People of the Book?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Who are the People of the Book?<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><strong>In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful. <\/strong><\/p>\n<h1><strong>Answer <\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>It is a consensus of the Muslim Ummah that the word \u2018book\u2019 is where there exists a certitude, confirmed by the Holy Qur\u2019an to be the Book of Allah, for instance, the Torah, Evangile, Zabur (Psalms) and other scriptures of Saaiduna Musa Alayhis\u00a0 Salam and Saaiduna Ibrahim Alayhis Salam.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, people who believe in a book but this book does not stand proved through the Holy Qur\u2019an and the Hadith shall not be included under the term \u2018People of the Book.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>This tells us that the Jews and Christians who are believers of the Torah and the Evangile respectively are included in the term of \u2018People of the Book.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Finally Mufti Shafi (RA) has said if the Jews and Christians accept and believe in a scripture and claim to follow it- they still be considered as the \u2018People of the Book\u2019 even though they may have altered the Torah and the Evangile.
