Who We Are
Darul Ifta Birmingham was established in July 2006 by a group of dedicated and visionary local scholars who recognised the growing need for a reliable, structured, and accessible platform through which the Muslim community could seek authentic Islamic guidance.
In today’s fast-paced and ever-evolving society—often shaped by materialism, cultural pressures, and misinformation—many individuals face challenges in maintaining a strong connection with their faith. Personal, family, and community issues are frequently left unresolved or approached without proper religious understanding. By the grace of Almighty Allah (subhanahu wa ta‘ala), Darul Ifta Birmingham was founded to bridge this gap—providing clarity, reassurance, and guidance rooted firmly in the Qur’aan, Sunnah, and the rich tradition of Islamic scholarship.
Over the years, Darul Ifta Birmingham has grown into a trusted and recognised institution, serving not only the local community but also individuals from across the UK and beyond who seek reliable Islamic advice in their daily lives.

What We Do
Question & Answer Service
At the heart of Darul Ifta Birmingham is our well-established Q&A service. Individuals are able to submit their questions through our website on a wide range of topics, including:
- Worship (Salah, Zakah, Sawm, and other acts of ‘ibadah)
- Family, marriage, and personal matters
- Islamic finance and business dealings
- Contemporary issues and modern-day challenges
Each query is carefully reviewed and answered by qualified muftis, ensuring that responses are rooted in authentic sources and classical jurisprudence, while also taking into consideration the realities of modern life.
All responses are archived, creating a growing and valuable repository of knowledge that benefits the wider community and serves as a long-term educational resource.
Community Engagement
Beyond the Q&A service, Darul Ifta Birmingham plays an active and meaningful role within the community. Our work includes:

Scholarly Guidance
Although based in Birmingham, Darul Ifta operates with the continued support, du‘as, and scholarly oversight of senior muftis from Darul Uloom Bury—one of the UK’s most respected and established Islamic seminaries.
This strong scholarly connection ensures that all guidance remains firmly rooted in traditional Islamic scholarship, maintaining authenticity, credibility, and academic rigour while addressing contemporary realities.

Our Scholar
Mufti Mohammed Tosir Miah
Mufti Mohammed Tosir Miah is a highly respected and accomplished scholar who graduated from Darul Uloom Bury as a Hafiz, ‘Alim, and Mufti. He had the honour of studying under the esteemed Shaykh Hadhrat Maulana Yusuf Motala (rahimahullah), alongside a number of leading UK scholars including Shaykh Hadhrat Maulana Hashim Sahib, Shaykh Hadhrat Mufti Shabbir Sahib, Shaykh Hadhrat Maulana Abdul Raheem Sahib, Shaykh Hadhrat Maulana Bilal Sahib, Shaykh Hadhrat Mufti Tahir Wadee Sahib, and Shaykh Hadhrat Maulana Naushaad Sahib.
His training has provided him with a deep and comprehensive understanding of Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh), theology (‘aqidah), and the principles of issuing legal verdicts (fatwa), enabling him to guide individuals with clarity, wisdom, and balance.
