Question:
The toilet seat is UK toilet not the squatting one.
1) When wiping impurity with damp tissue if the area has dirt (not impure) and water there which fell from my hands or the tissue or its the actual impurity and I wipe over it has that area been purified? I’ve done it like this so is everything impure now?
2) Urine dropped on the part of the toilet you don’t sit on. Then this impurity ran down the front of the outer toilet bowl (not where you relieve yourself in) to the floor. didn’t clean it for 2 days and then I decided to clean it. Is it purified because what if other people transferred the impurity and it transferred to other parts of the toilet? I don’t know so I only cleaned the parts I thought were impure. Also are their Salahs not valid? How will I know?
3) When showering, steam went on the outside parts of the toilet bowl (not inside where urine goes in) and the floor. The outer toilet bowl became wet. Some areas of this part of the toilet bowl were impure from beforehand. Did the impurity transfer everywhere and make the entire outer toilet bowl impure?
4) While doing istinja I felt water splashes on my bum. Unsure if it was from the water sprayer or the toilet. These splashes went on my bum which touched the toilet seat. I didn’t purify my bum properly as I didn’t think the water splashes were impure. The water from the splashes and the water from istinja mixed and was left on toilet seat. I tried cleaning with water sprayer but it just made everything spread everywhere. After this I had the nagging feeling that the water splashes from istinja was indeed impure so I tried purifying the toilet seat, the hinge of the toilet and underneath the toilet seat. Some parts are difficult to clean due to it being a small area. What to do? The water from istinja will go underneath the seat and go on the floor. Everyone who sits and walks will become impure and their Salahs not accepted.
5) When wiping toilet seat, as I was taking of the tissue from the seat it touched the toilet seat again in the same area? Is it impure? I didn’t purify it because I don’t think it’s impure so I left it.
6) I’ve tried purifying this toilet several times and I keep making it impure. My mum went and cleansed the whole toilet unknowing of the impurities on it. Is everything impure what do I do?
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer:
If the area which you wiped with the tissue has no traces of the impurity, then it’s considered to be clean.
The ruling in Hanafi fiqh is that purity will remain unless there is certainty of impurity. Doubts alone don’t make things impure.[1]
The same would also apply; it’s only based on speculation that the impurity has been transferred and not proven.
The salah will still be valid since doubts cannot remove certainty.
It would be best to seal the shower to avoid this from happening in the future. If visible traces of impurity is found on the outer part of the bowl after showering, then it would be necessary to clean it but if no traces is found, then it is safe to say the area was clean and don’t let doubts cloud your decisions as it makes things difficult.[2]
If traces of impurity was visible in the water after you sprayed on the seat, then it would be certain that it needs cleaning, but if not, then it would be inappropriate the have doubts and just washing with the sprayer would be sufficient.
In the case where the same piece of tissue touched the area that was cleaned, it would be considered clean if no traces of impurity are found since merely touching would not leave impurity as compared to rubbing or leaving it for a duration of time.
If by purifying the toilet you meant the above scenario happened, then your mother cleaned it afterwards, there is no need to be alarmed, since most of it is based on speculations and not evidence.
We hope this answers the question.
Only Allah ﷻ knows best.
