Question:
Asalamualaikum,
Are Feroglobin capsules halal? They have gelatine from a halal bovine source. When I enquired from Vitabiotics (the company who makes them), they said that with each batch that is provided to them, a Halal Certificate is issued by the Muslim Institute of Meat and Agriculture Brussels, which is the authority that ensures that the slaughtering is in accordance to Halal rules. They attached a certificate but it was in another language. When I Googled the institute, there is no website and AI says there is no entity officially titled the “Muslim Institute of Meat and Agriculture” in Brussels. What should I do? Throw the remaining boxes of capsules away?

The best action would be for you to throw the remaining capsules away as there is a lot of doubt in it being halal. [1]

وعن أبي حنيفة – رَحِمَهُ اللَّهُ -: إذا كان في موضع لا يستبين الفجر، أو كانت الليلة مقمرة، أو متغيمة، أو كان ببصره علة، وهو يشك لا يأكل، ولو أكل فقد أساء؛ لقوله – عَلَيْهِ الصَّلَاةُ وَالسَّلَامُ -: «دع ما يريبك إلى ما لا يريبك» وإن كان أكبر رأيه أنه أكل، والفجر طالع، فعليه قضاؤه عملا بغالب الرأي، وفيه الاحتياط، وعلى ظاهر الرواية لا قضاء عليه؛ لأن اليقين لا يزال إلا بمثله، ولو ظهر أن الفجر طالع لا كفارة عليه
