Question:

I wash impure (napak) clothes in an automatic washing machine. The machine washes the clothes four times: once with detergent and then three times with clean water. Despite this, if the stain or mark of the impurity remains on the clothes, are my clothes still impure?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

The cleansing of an impurity from an item of clothing occurs when the body/solids of the impurity have been removed. After this, any stain should either be removed completely, or if this is difficult, the minimum number of cleanses have occurred. Clothing will not be considered impure once they have undergone three cycles in the washing machine process and the body of the impurity has been removed. In the situation where a stain remains on the clothing after the washing process, it would not be deemed impure.
