What does the Shariah state about individuals who blame innocent ladies of illicit relationship and illegitimate children?

In the name of Allah, Most Compassionate, Most Merciful.

Answer

Allah states in the Quran, “Verily, those who (falsely, and without repentance) accuse chaste women who may have been careless but have remained true to their faith, (i.e virtuous women who thoughtlessly expose themselves to situation on which a slanderous construction may be put) shall be rejected (from Allah’s grace) in this world as well as in the Hereafter; and they shall have a grievous punishment. (Surah An Nur: 23)

The severity of the false accusation of adultery against chaste women is clear from the above verse. Accusation without the support of four eyewitnesses is a great sin and punishable in an Islamic states with eighty whips. If no evidence of such actions are provided then the words of such a person should not be accepted and the individual should be encouraged to stop and repent. Allah states in the Quran; “O those who believe, if a sinful person brings you a report, verify its correctness, least you harm a people out of ignorance then become remorseful on what you did.” (Surah Al Hujurat: 6)
