Question
I am working as a Finance Professor and I had to teach students the advantages and benefits of taking a loan and paying interest riba as it is given in the syllabus of finance.
Example:- When a company takes a small amount of loan and pays interest (RIBA) It gets many benefits like tax deduction on interest paid and other Benefits.
In India Darul Harb there is no choice of interest free loans. Moreover, I am just teaching and it is my job. I am not paying or using or consuming Riba in my daily life as it is Haram . Please tell me if I am doing any sin Gunah or I will be punished for Just teaching the syllabus to students? I am asking this because I have heard hadiths. All those persons are doing sin Gunah if they are involved in Riba.
Answer
It would be advisable for you to seek such employment where you are allowed to discourage interest as opposed to encouraging it by talking about its advantages and benefits. You may have ignorant Muslim students who are lead astray by your lectures. However, if you have the freedom to divert slightly from the syllabus and talk about your own personal opinions then it would be better for you to mention the Muslim opinion on interest and how it extorts to such a degree that the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.
