Question:
Assalamualaikum
I wanted to ask whether pronouncing Arabic letters in Salah with the same sound but different makhraj is valid? For example, pronouncing ن like the English 'n' or pronouncing ت like English 't' without using its makhraj of the tip of the tongue
بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيْم
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Answer:
It is compulsory for a person to learn the basic rules of tajwīd such as the different makhārij (pronunciation) of the letters and their qualities, to the best of one’s ability.[1]
In a nutshell one will not be permitted to recite the Arabic letters in the way in which the English letters are recited.
