Question:
Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah
My question is regarding Human beings created in pairs. How about some kids who die in infancy? How about the (girls, women and boys, men) who die as singles.
(This question has been asked by a new convert)
Answer:
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Surah an-Naba and some other surahs mention that Allah (SWT) has created us in pairs.
وَخَلَقْنَاكُمْ أَزْوَاجًا
“And We created you in pairs.” (Surah an-Naba’, verse 8)
Imam Ar-Raazi (RH) in his book of Tafseer, at-Tafseer al-Kaabir, mentions in the Tafseer of Surah An-Naba that the meaning of this Ayah is either the creation of males and females or that it means that things were created with an opposite e.g. good and evil, tall and short etc. Other Tafseers by Imam Qurtubi and Imam Baghawi also mention that the meaning is the creation of males and females.
Apart from this Ayah, we know that every single person who enters Jannah, whether they were a man or woman or child will be granted whatever they wish, whether that is a spouse or something else. We cannot even imagine what beauties await us in Jannah. We must, therefore, work hard to be granted the great gifts in the Hereafter and make our only concerns to be granted Allah (SWT)’s mercy and forgiveness and working for the Hereafter.
Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) said:
The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "Allah, the Exalted, has said: 'I have prepared for My righteous slaves what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and the mind of no man has conceived.' If you wish, recite:
'No person knows what is kept hidden for them of joy as a reward for what they used to do."' (32:17) [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
Only Allah SWT knows best.
