Question

If one is listening to a khutbah on television on a Friday, then after the khutbah when the sheikh leads the prayer, one offers two rak'aats with him. Is this wrong?

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيْم

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

A condition for praying with an imam is that they must be located in the same place.^[1]

Therefore, it will not be permissible for you to follow the jama’ah of the imam on the television.
