Question 

If we are listening to the Quran on a tape or CD do we have to do Sajdah e Tilawat in this case? It will be difficult to know when an Ayat of Sajdah has been recited if you are not a Hafidh.

Answer

Sajdah Tilawah is not obligatory if one is listening to the verse from a cassette or CD. The same rule also applies if the verse is being recited from a pre-recorded programme. However, if the programme is live, it will be obligatory to perform the sajdah. (Jadeed Fiqhi Masaail p.173 v.1)
