Question

My parents are not Muslims, can I inherit from them?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

In Shariah, a Muslim will not be entitled to any wealth as an inheritance from non-Muslim relatives that have passed away. (Al-Fatawa Al-Hindiyyah, Volume 6, Page 503, Dar Al-Kutub Al-Ilmiyyah)

It is narrated by Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-‘As (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet S.A.W) said: people of two different religions will not inherit from one another. (Sunan Abu Dawood: 2911)
