Question:
I have a health problem that makes it difficult to pray, and the movement during the Salah affects me negatively for a while afterwards.
How many raka’ah of each salah is compulsory?
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer:
You would need to pray your full fardh salah rakats and the wajib (unless on a journey) however, due to your reasons you will be permitted to pray sitting if you can’t pray standing, and if you can’t sit and pray then you can lie down and pray through gestures.
I had piles, so I asked the Prophet (s.a.w) about the prayer. He said, Pray while standing and if you can’t, pray while sitting and if you cannot do even that, then pray Lying on your side. (Sahih Bukhari – Hadith 1117)
Only Allah knows best.
