Question:

In regards to talaq if you find a fatwa online on the Darul ifta website or any other trusted source which is similar to your situation can you apply it to yourself?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

Situations of Talaq are either quite simple and straightforward or nuanced. If your Talaq question is simple (e.g., regarding Talaq in the state of anger or intoxication, etc), then you can apply it to your situation. However, if it is a nuanced question, you should speak to a trusted scholar.

Allah says in the Qur’an: We did not send before you except mere men inspired by Us. If you do not know, then ask those who have knowledge (Qur’an, 16:43 and 21:7)

The best thing to do would be to ask a trusted scholar, regardless of the nature of your question, to ensure that you have the correct ruling for your situation.

Only Allah knows best.
