Question:

I am asking/seeking advice in regard to a situation. For example, when going to Jamat (tabligh) for ten days or 40 days, there is a situation when wet dreams don’t occur, and the need for sexual desire increases and distracts a lot. Sometimes it creates pressure on the penis, especially when waking up. Therefore, is it permissible to release semen in the masjid toilet? As we know the toilet is not part of the masjid and mostly it is located outside the masjid prayer area and separated. If semen is released in the toiler and straight way-shower is done it can ease a lot.

Answer:

Sexual desires and temptation are natural things of the body and often are out of a person’s control.

Such feelings with and without lust can happen anywhere.

How to curb desires:

As mentioned in the beginning, desires are natural however some people have higher sexual desires than others and this leads to greater moments of lust and desire. This can be curbed and controlled by the following:

  1. Marrying
  2. Fasting to avoid sexual thoughts

This is derived from the following hadith:

Narrated ‘Abdullah: It was narrated that ‘Abdullah said: “The Messenger of Allah said to us: ‘O young men, whoever among you can afford it, let him get married, for it is more effective in lowering the gaze and guarding chastity, and whoever cannot then he should fast, for it will be a restraint (wija’) for him.'”

Sunan an-Nasa’i 3209 (1)

Hence, firstly, it is a good measure to seek to control sexual desires, wet dreams and sudden sexual desires.

Controlling your desires would decrease the occurrences of sexual desire that resorts to you visiting the bathroom and the purpose of this is to respect the masjid, keep it clean and respect the space.

Narrated Anas bin Malik:

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Spitting in the mosque is a sin and its expiation is to bury it.” (2)

Considering the above hadith, despite saliva being clean, the purpose behind the advice is due to the need to keep the masjid clean and show respect towards it.

Thus, in response to your query, it would not be impermissible to relieve oneself by masturbation in the bathroom though one shouldn’t put themselves in that situation when it is avoidable.
