Question:
- I had lectures so I prayed zuhr late. There was still 20min left till asr. I started praying but my whudhu broke. So I did it again. Then only 4min left till asr I started praying. I read that even if you only finish one rakat in the prayer time your Salah is valid. Do I have to repeat my prayer or leave it as the Salah time expired?
- Also, my whudhu was about to break in isha so I only read atahiyat in the last rakat and finished the prayer and did sujood e sahw, I omitted durood Sharif. Is my prayer valid?
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer:
The time of Zuhr ends as soon as Asr time starts. Our beloved prophet (SAW):
“The time for Zuhr starts as the sun declines from the zenith is so long as ‘Asr has not come.” [Muslim Hadeeth no: 612]
You do not need to repeat the Zuhr prayer as our beloved prophet (SAW) has mentioned:
“He who grasps one rak’ah of a prayer is regarded to have caught the prayer.” [Abu Dawud Hadeeth no: 893]
It mentions in Rad Al Al-Binayah:
“If a person can start the takbir of a prayer in its determined time, he is regarded to have performed the whole prayer in time (when finishing that specific prayer)”. [Al-Binayah vol 2 page 41]
With regards to missing out on the durood in prayer, if you miss it then your prayer is still valid although it is a huge sunnah that one must adhere to.
(Regarding the last sitting), which is a condition because it is the “ending phase” of prayer just like takbeer tahreemah is the opening of worship. (And the duration is) the minimum time taken for tashahhud so even if one sits for a moment (and ends the prayer) it is accepted to be valid. [Rad-Al-Muhtar Vol 1 page 448]
Only Allah knows best.
