Question:
A person came to me and told me that our toilet seat is facing the first Qibla, he probably mean Masjid e Aqsa. I am not sure what is meant by this. If we can’t face the direction or turn our backs towards the second Qibla as well, then which direction should we face?
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer:
To face one’s face or back towards the Qiblah while relieving oneself is prohibitively disliked. (1)
As for facing Masjid Al-Aqsa, there are two opinions the scholars have mentioned.
The first opinion is that it is permissible without any dislike. (2)
The second opinion is that it is not preferred (disliked, Makrooh Tanzihi). (2)
Only Allah (عز و جل) knows best.
