Question:

In ramadhan sehri ends at 4.53. I completed my suhoor and few minutes later I vomited everything.

Will my fast be valid ?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

The fuqaha have explained many types of vomiting. One is a person vomited unintentionally whether it is full mouth or not. Other scenario is a person induce the vomit. Where he force himself to vomit and it can be full mouth or not.

In the books of fiqh the detailed is mention that a person vomit will not break his fast be it full mouth or not. Likewise if a person induce the vomit, his fast will not break if it is not full mouth.

However if he induce the vomit and it was full mouth, the the fast would break and a person will have to make qadha for it and there will be no expiation.

Therefore if a person vomit unintentionally his fast will not break, he can continue with his fast throughout the day.

(قَوْلُهُ: وَإِنْ ذَرَعَهُ الْقَيْءُ) أَيْ غَلَبَهُ وَسَبَقَهُ قَامُوسٌ وَالْمَسْأَلَةُ تَتَفَرَّعُ إلَى أَرْبَعٍ وَعِشْرِينَ صُورَةً؛ لِأَنَّهُ إمَّا أَنْ يَقِيءَ أَوْ يَسْتَقِئَ وَفِي كُلٍّ إمَّا أَنْ يَمْلَأَ الْفَمَ أَوْ دُونَهُ، وَكُلٌّ مِنْ الْأَرْبَعَةِ إمَّا إنْ خَرَجَ أَوْ عَادَ أَوْ أَعَادَهُ وَكُلٌّ إمَّا ذَاكِرٌ لِصَوْمِهِ أَوْ لَا وَلَا فِطْرَ فِي الْكُلِّ عَلَى الْأَصَحِّ إلَّا فِي الْإِعَادَةِ وَالِاسْتِقَاءِ بِشَرْطِ الْمِلْءِ مَعَ التَّذَكُّرِ شَرْحُ الْمُلْتَقَى

إذَا قَاءَ أَوْ اسْتِقَاءَ مِلْءَ الْفَمِ أَوْ دُونَهُ عَادَ بِنَفْسِهِ أَوْ أَعَادَ أَوْ خَرَجَ فَلَا فِطْرَ عَلَى الْأَصَحِّ إلَّا فِي الْإِعَادَةِ وَالِاسْتِقَاءِ بِشَرْطِ مِلْءِ الْفَمِ هَكَذَا فِي النَّهْرِ الْفَائِقِ وَهَذَا كُلُّهُ إذَا كَانَ الْقَيْءُ طَعَامًا أَوْ مَاءً أَوْ مُرَّةً فَإِنْ كَانَ بَلْغَمًا فَغَيْرُ مُفْسِدٍ لِلصَّوْمِ عِنْدَ أَبِي حَنِيفَةَ وَمُحَمَّدٍ – رَحِمَهُمَا اللَّهُ تَعَالَى – خِلَافًا لِأَبِي يُوسُفَ – رَحِمَهُ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى – إذَا مَلَأَ الْفَمَ وَقَوْلُهُ هَذَا أَحْسَنُ مِنْ قَوْلِهِمَا هَكَذَا فِي فَتْحِ الْقَدِيرِ
