Question:

 

I just wanted to ask about something. I was sleeping wearing my underwear and a shirt. When I woke up, I felt that my private part is wet but not Overly wet. I don’t know whether my bed sheets, clothes and body are clean. I tried checking for a smell or colour on the bed sheet but I found nothing?

 

 

 

 

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

 

Answer:

 

That which exits from the private part usually either has a thickness or stickiness and a white colour (eg: ejaculate and pre-ejaculate) or a colour (ie: urine). These substances also usually have a smell. If there is no congealed substance, dampness, colour or smell upon one’s bedsheets or clothing, these things will be considered pure. One can safely assume their purity and discard any doubts. Since wetness was found upon the private part, then that part in particular will be considered impure and must be washed.

وَالثَّانِي إذَا تَجَاوَزَتْ مَخْرَجَهَا يَجِبُ عِنْدَ مُحَمَّدٍ – رَحِمَهُ اللَّهُ – قَلَّ أَوْ كَثُرَ وَهُوَ الْأَحْوَطُ وَعِنْدَهُمَا يَجِبُ إذَا تَجَاوَزَ قَدْرَ الدِّرْهَمِ؛ لِأَنَّ مَا عَلَى الْمَخْرَجِ سَقَطَ اعْتِبَارُهُ لِجَوَازِ الِاسْتِجْمَارِ فِيهِ فَيَبْقَى الْمُعْتَبَرُ مَا وَرَاءَهُ.

وَالثَّالِثُ سُنَّةٌ وَهُوَ إذَا لَمْ تَتَجَاوَزْ النَّجَاسَةُ مَخْرَجَهَا.

وَالرَّابِعُ مُسْتَحَبٌّ وَهُوَ إذَا بَالَ وَلَمْ يَتَغَوَّطْ يَغْسِلُ قُبُلَهُ.
